MY INCREDIBLE HUSBAND!

I first met Don in 1962. One thing that really impressed me was his dedication to keep himself fit and healthy. He had a routine of exercises and this was always part of his schedule.
We have now been married for 43 years and I'm still amazed how he keeps himself in shape at 69.

When Don was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of Prostate Cancer, we were both shocked since he had been so dedicated about keeping fit. Then Don had a stroke at the end of 2007, and this too was a shock.

One thing that Don loved to do was climb over the Monument with his bike. From our home, this is a 45 mile ride. Last year, he tried to ride this and he had to turn around since he didn't have the energy to even get to the top. Don was very discouraged about this.

He has been very diligent in doing the hormone treatments at the Veteran's Hospital as well as taking all kinds of pills for different things. This, along with lifting weights, using his eliptical machine, lots of walking and some hiking, and riding his bike to work every day, he still keeps himself in good shape.

This spring he decided to try riding the Monument again....... HE DID IT! Just this Saturday, August 12, he finished the 7th time across the Monument this year. He's tired, but who wouldn't be after doing this ride? The smile on his face tells it all. He can still do what he loves to do.

Don had a hormone implant on Thursday and saw 3 different doctors at the VA. They are so pleased at his progress and told him to keep up what ever he is doing because it's working!
